Dear prospective students,

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) is proud to present a new opportunity for a better future where it offers dynamic and motivated candidates enrollment in new study programs for obtaining double diplomas, which are realized in cooperation with the prestigious University of Health Sciences (SBU), Turkiye.

The implemented joint study programs are as follows: Dental Medicine and Medicine. These joint study programs combine the best aspects of these two partner universities and provide the advantage of studying in Sarajevo and Istanbul. Upon successful completion of a six-year course of study, graduates are awarded two separate diplomas, one issued by IUS and the other issued by SBU.

The University of Health Sciences (SBU) in Istanbul carries the legacy of Mekteb-i Tıbbiyye-i Şahane, Türkiye’s first medical school founded in 1903. Honoring this heritage, SBU was officially established on April 15, 2015, in the same historic building and began academic activities in the 2016–2017 academic year. As Türkiye’s first thematic public university dedicated solely to health sciences, SBU is uniquely authorized to establish faculties and institutes abroad, underlining its international mission. In 2016, SBU incorporated the Gülhane Academy of Military Medicine, originally founded in 1898 as Gülhane Seririyat Hospital, the country’s first modern medical institution—adding both legacy and academic strength to the university. Today, SBU comprises: 5 institutes, 22 faculties, 6 vocational schools and 37 research centers. With a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary education and research, SBU has become a national leader in health sciences and a growing international presence. According to the 2024 Shanghai Ranking (ARWU), SBU is ranked in the 601–700 bracket globally, a reflection of its rapid rise and impact in medical research and education. From preserving history to advancing modern healthcare, SBU is shaping the future of health education in Türkiye and beyond.

We invite all ambitious students to take advantage of this opportunity that IUS now offers you and enroll in one of the two offered study programs through our established international cooperation.
